Chronicles of Tellus
Gaed is an aging man who seems much too tall and much too thin to be alive. His teeth, or those that are still present, are crooked and yellowed and often emit a powerful stench of decay. His long, thinning hair is often greasy and unkempt. He frequently wears dirty and/or torn clothing, which often smell and look better than his un-bathed body. Those that know of Gaed usually strongly prefer to leave him to his own doings, as he is often cantankerous and rude. But those few that have ever been fortunate enough to call him “friend” know him as a powerful ally who is loyal beyond expectation.
Gaed has been in the swamp surrounding Sandpointe for more years than anyone can seem to recall. In truth, he is a druid that grew weary of the constant wars caused by the various peoples of the world. Gaed is a strong believer in the Balance of Nature and he trusts only in the Laws of the Wild. He always voices his belief that killing need only be done to feed oneself, especially by higher reasoning beings like Humans and Dwarves. To him, there is no reason to ever take a life; combat can be resolved with words or merely knocking ones enemies out. Therefore, Gaed does whatever he can to subdue or hinder opponents in combat; he will never kill intentionally.
Gaed always travels with a large alligator he has named Al. At one time Al tried to feast upon Gaed, with the latter losing a few fingers on his left hand. Gaed was able to subdue Al and eventually more or less tamed him. Al now serves as Gaed’s animal companion.
